This is my first time throwing in everything and my first time really worrying about the cleanliness of my produce. I tried the technique of cleaning with flour + water and I have to say, I think? everything was cleaner than water alone.

For all of those clean OCD’s out there - a great way to wash your produce is a sprinkle of...

For all of those clean OCD’s out there - a great way to wash your produce is a sprinkle of flour + water.

After hanging out with my 60 year old coworker for the entire day, one valuable lesson I have...

After hanging out with my 60 year old coworker for the entire day, one valuable lesson I have learned:

Surround yourself with people you like and care about (either a significant other or friends). Because in the end when you’re nice and old, they’re all you’re going to have.

There is nothing more depressing than listening to her talk about how she hates hanging out with all of the people that she does. But she still does anyway. lol

I have given up on buying fresh shrimp because it’s expensive and farm-raised.

I recently learned a great tip for getting the fishiness out of frozen seafood. Place your frozen seafood in milk (or cream) in a sealed container and thaw over night. really does wonders. I like to rinse it off before I’m about to cook it, but I have heard of people rinsing before putting it in the milk.

Cheers to milk!

Adapted from Alabama Fire Crackers recipe.
2/3 cup of olive oil1...

Adapted from Alabama Fire Crackers recipe.

2/3 cup of olive oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp of black pepper
1 (1 oz.) packet of ranch dressing
3 Tbs of crushed red pepper flakes
3 Tbs of parsley flakes
4 sleeves of unsalted saltine crackers (or 16 oz of oyster crackers)

So I went ahead and tried making them with two methods.
1. The original method - where you mix everything together in a gallon ziploc bag and then dump all of the crackers in. I don’t know how people get it to evenly distribute. Plus: the red pepper flakes stick much better with this method.
2. Alternative method - using a basting brush to individually brush each cracker. Brushed one side, let it dry. Flipped and brushed the other side. More tedious…less spicy…prettier :op

My only qualm with this recipe is that it’s pretty salty. But so delicious.
Use less powder? Try to find a low sodium ranch packet? haha who cares!

As I am pouring this into my mouth, my coworker enthusiastically...

As I am pouring this into my mouth, my coworker enthusiastically says:

“wikipedia: homeopathic dilutions”

Highlights of the article:

1X | 1:10 | described as low potency
2X | 1C | 1:100 | called higher potency than 1X by homeopaths
8X | 4C | 10−8 | allowable concentration of arsenic in U.S. drinking water
26X | 13C | 10−26 | If pure water was used as the diluent, no molecules of the original solution remain in the water.
60X | 30C | 10−60 | Dilution advocated by Hahnemann for most purposes: on average, this would require giving two billion doses per second to six billion people for 4 billion years to deliver a single molecule of the original material to any patient.
400X | 200C | 10−400 | Dilution of popular homeopathic flu remedy Oscillococcinum

Analogies

Critics and advocates of homeopathy alike commonly attempt to illustrate the dilutions involved in homeopathy with analogies. The high dilutions characteristically used are often considered to be the most controversial and implausible aspect of homeopathy.

Duck liver 200C in the entire observable Universe

A popular homeopathic treatment for the flu is a 200C dilution of duck liver, marketed under the name Oscillococcinum. As there are only about 1080 atoms in the entire observable universe, a dilution of one molecule in the observable universe would be about 40C. Oscillococcinum would thus require 10320 more universes to simply have one molecule in the final substance.[15]

Swimming pool

Another illustration of dilutions used in common homeopathic remedies involves comparing a homeopathic dilution to dissolving the therapeutic substance in a swimming pool.[16][17]

One example, inspired by a problem found in a set of popular algebra textbooks, states that there are on the order of 1032 molecules of water in an Olympic-size swimming pool[18] and if such a pool were filled with a 15C homeopathic remedy, to have a 63% chance of consuming at least one molecule of the original substance, one would need to swallow 1% of the volume of such a pool, or roughly 25 metric tons of water.[19][20][21]

lol pretty funny

obviously then you have to click the link: oscillococcinum.

Oscillococcinum (commonly shortened to Oscillo[1]) is a homeopathic alternative medicine marketed to relieve influenza-like symptoms. It is a popular homeopathic preparation, particularly in France. Oscillococcinum is manufactured by a French company, Boiron, its sole manufacturer. There are, however, other manufacturers who make similar preparations. Oscillococcinum is used in more than 50 countries. In France, it has been in production for over 65 years.

Oscillococcinum is generally considered harmless. When Boiron’s spokeswoman Gina Casey was asked if a product made from the heart and liver of a duck was safe, she replied: “Of course it is safe. There’s nothing in it.”[10]

From the Human Right’s Campaign to push for marriage equality.

I asked my christian coworker about what she thought about the supreme court hearings about prop 8 and doma. Got an expected response.

First she referenced Romans 1:
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

And how she couldn’t openly support gay marriage because it states in the bible how it is wrong. How she understands that God hates the sin and not the sinner, but there are quite frankly more unjust things in the world.

Meh. Kind of upset. It’s stuff like this that makes christians look so hypocritical and self-righteous. It’s not her responsibility to condemn homosexuality.

And honestly, if you read further to Romans 2:
Therefore you are inexcusable, O man, whoever you are who judge, for in whatever you judge another you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.
Paul even points out the self-righteousness of those who have judged the pagans described in Romans 1.

And who even knows if “unnatural” is referring to being homosexual.

All I know is it isn’t fair that if someone has been with someone through the good times and bad, sickness and health, and can’t be added to their partner’s insurance because they aren’t officially a “spouse” on paper.

etc: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/marriage-rights-benefits-30190.html

Had some heartburn/”chest pain” that wouldn’t go away. My paranoid doctor sister...

Had some heartburn/”chest pain” that wouldn’t go away. My paranoid doctor sister pushed for me to go to urgent care to rule out a pulmonary embolism (since I am on birth control) and unfortunately her friend had chest pain for a week before heading to the ER to find out that she did in fact have a PE.

Opted for a blood d-dimer test first. Unfortunately it came back elevated and sigh had to get a CT scan to rule it out for sure. I believe in preventative medicine, I had to keep on reminding myself as I paid my ridiculous diagnostic testing fee.

I had to sit for an HOUR with an IV needle just chillin in my arm because of a protocol about re-verifying the test doctor with my doctor (who was off that day). IV needles are so FATTTTTTTTTTT.

Anyway, the CT itself was meh what you expect. Fun fact: 1 CT is the equivalent of the amount of radiation you would typically be exposed to in 3 years. What really threw me off was the contrast flush! The tech described it as a hot flash. lol it was pretty awful - a huge hot pee running from your chest to your toes. Props the menopausal women of the world.

Anyway, I’m alive. : ) no PE, just some random scarring in my lungs.

even better find for dry shampoo! i like it more than...

even better find for dry shampoo! i like it more than pssst : ) and it’s cheaper.

I remember the first time my dad said “make sure the...

I remember the first time my dad said “make sure the garage door is engaged”.

For some reason I thought I had to somehow manually hook it back into its track. Pretty sure that doesn’t make sense to you either. Anyway, to ensure that is engaged just make sure the switch is paralellel to the track and then press the on/off switch and it will hook itself back into its track.

But my dad sure does take care of them - car wash every 2 weeks, leather lotion, etc.

And for my entire life I have been spoiled with above average vehicles. It wasn’t until today when I had to drive C’s busted ass 10 year old stock Toyota Avalon that I’ve realized how good I’ve had it. Tinted windows! Who knew how crucial tinted windows are. Although I do admit, despite it being freakishly sunny/hot during the day - headlights sure are more clear and I definitely have an easier time backing out of my spot in the garage at work.

I don’t know what’s more awful -

1. Having to run to another stall with my pants down

2. Me not telling the lady going into the stall after me that there wasn’t toilet paper

3. That lady didn’t hesitate - no wiping after going
